How did A3D even qualify for nominations. Theres just a few 3D effects on the screen. The actual footage wasn’t shot or altered to be in 3D.

I haven’t seen A3D, but all of the descriptions from fans led me to believe it was mostly post-production 3D effects overlayed over the 2D film. I always pictured something like the PS2 game, but with the cheesy visual effects leaping out of the screen!!1 Is that accurate?

I wonder how much of the victory is a lack of submissions in the category? Or maybe it was trying to bolster its image as a truly ~international society by awarding the films already recognized by the Japanese committee? Or, you know, trying to grab press in Japan.
